About South Norwood & WoodsideSouth Norwood and Woodside are in the SE25 postcode so still in Greater London. South Norwood is seen as being North of the main railway line and Woodside to the South. The area is close to Crystal Palace, Croydon and Beckenham. It is an area with an interesting history, once being the place Londoners came to escape and build their villas. Famous local residents have included Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Emile Zola and Thomas Crapper! Much of the housing has been Victorian and Edwardian, though some more modern developments can be found on the South Norwood Lakes estate.
The area is now undergoing a period of regeneration as people move into the area on a permanent basis as well as rent at low prices. It’s interesting to compare what you get for your money with other areas which are close by, such as Honor Oak Park, Sydenham or Beckenham; you soon realise that for the sake of a mile or two you can have lots of space inside and outside and save a lot of money into the bargain. The best thing about being in South Norwood and Woodside is the potential and the possibilities for living. The area itself is fairly sizeable so there’s a good choice of styles and something to suit most people’s budgets. Like many London areas, it’s had its ups and downs, but with prices for new luxury flats in Croydon’s Saffron Square selling for silly money, it’s a safe bet that this area will soon be going further up in the world. |
